Once it’s seen by the detection software, we confirm it, and blacklist the IP across all server as once they hit one, they tend to go after others. But for the past 24 hours, it seems like there’s been a drastic rise in the number of attempts. Think I’ve personally handled a couple dozen different originating IPs today. They come from all over but a lot have been in the US, which is a reversal of the trend we’ve seen in the past. Most came out of Europe or Asia previously. Was wondering if others are seeing the same thing. Let me know…

I don’t post that often about deals, but this one is worthy of an exception.

You are using RAID for your storage right? You should be… but you know how expensive RAID type drives can be. And please don’t say you’re using consumer desktop drives!

Geeks.com is having a sale on Western Digital RE3 (RAID Edition 3) drives. These drives are different from the consumer models in that the firmware on the drives has been redone for being included in a RAID system. Regular WD drives are known for having issues when placed in RAID setups – they have an error and get dropped out of the array. WD’s stance is simply those drives are not intended for RAID, and it’s the consumer’s problem not theirs. These drives however ARE configured and warranted for RAID use.

At this price I really expected to see refurbished drives listed on the site. These are new though but only carry a 180 day warranty. Considering most places want 3 to 4 times as much for the same drive, just buy an extra or 2…

Plus get a free USB 2.0 external enclosure and free shipping! How to get this:

Go here: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?InvtId=WD1002FBYS-NC-NDW

Add to cart, and then use savings code: WDDEAL

Choose Economy shipping for the free shipping portion.

The original ad can be seen here if you have any questions: http://www.geeks.com/pix/2011/WDDEAL2.html?cm_mmc=geekmail-_-daily_html-_-08apr11_WDDEAL2-_-Viewasweb&utm_medium=daily_html&utm_content=WDDEAL2_Viewasweb&utm_campaign=WDDEAL2
